Dr Kirsten Wylie BVSc
I am so lucky to have found a career I can be passionate about. For 28 years I have been able to work with the animals I care deeply about and hopefully have been able to make a small difference for many.
My veterinary degree has taken me to some amazing places – working as a veterinarian on the Iditarod Sled dog race, feeding baby tigers in Thailand and performing surgery on dogs and cats in Tonga (on the bar no less)
It is that passion that makes me treat every patient as if they were my own … Constantly looking for the best outcome for owner and patient in a cost affordable way.
Having worked with Cats and dogs in a high end, veterinary practice I have managed many difficult medical and surgical cases. During this time, I often found myself giving advice by text, email and phone leading to the idea to start a telemedicine service.
Why the move into telemedicine you ask? I see telemedicine as a way to allow us as vets to diagnose many problems in the comfort of your home with little stress for your pet and convenience for you the pet owner. With human medicine rapidly moving in this direction I see that we can achieve similar outcomes for pet owners.
There will be limitations as to what we can do and referral for radiographs and blood testing may be required to aid in the diagnosis.
When I am not working, I look after my fur family of four dogs (Affenpinschers) and a Devon rex cat and enjoy relaxing at the beach or exploring more of the wonderful world we live in.
